About

Heather A. Leslie, PhD

I have spent much of my career tackling plastic and chemical pollution. Measuring it, making the invisible visible, assessing risk, talking about it, writing about it, and  seeking ways to protect nature - and us - from its negative impacts.

Over the last 25 years I have built an international track record and reputation in the field of sustainability, plastics, chemicals, environment and health within the international contract research domain, as a senior scientist and lecturer at Dutch universities (UvA, UU, WUR and VU).

In 2024 I established Heather Leslie Projects, a scientific consultancy which brings science into real world practice through strategically advising organisations on today’s pressing plastic and chemical pollution issues. Operating as an SME gives me the opportunity to conduct independent research and the freedom to develop new projects in interesting directions.

My company combines technical knowledge, practical thinking and customer focus with my transdisciplinary attitude and interest in building a prosperous, just world.

My ongoing collaborations with academic scientists, clients and reviewing keep me on top of new developments in my field. I make regular appearances in the international media. I'm a keynote speaker and writer in English and Dutch.
